Died 1831, , , Prince George CO, MD USA
Title: Private
PLAC: 71 years old

Benjamin was a soldier in the Maryland line during the Revolutionary War. He enlisted at age 16 and served in the war from 1776 to 1779. He achieved the rank of Sergent according to Ida J. DeCamps DAR submission in Vol. 43. (CL-327, 615). However, according to Mrs. Laura Olvie Tabin Leaverton who submitted his info in Vol. 113, (c1912) Benjamin is listed on the Pension Rolls for Maryland for his service as a Private in the Maryland line starting in 1818. (Cl-615). She says he was 16 years old when he enlisted. According to a book about Maryland soldiers in the Revolution by Newman, his pension application say he was born in 1753, so the two sources of information don't quite match. His parentage is also uncertain. LDS records state that he was born in 1755 and that he was the son of Elisha and Wilhelmina. Submissions to Ancestry World Tree state that his daughter Hannah was actually the daughter of Lewis DuVall whose lineage goes back to the 1500s instead.
This Lewis Duvall Iine descends from Mareen Duvall who came from Yantes, France around 1650. Most of the DuVall in the area descend from Mareen. There are other Duvall lines in Maryland at the time though. A John Duvall arrived on Nov. 2, 1678 on the ship "St. George of London". William Duvall who fought in the American Revolution immigrated directly from France. It's not certain either of the last two possibilities left descendants or if they are not in some way also connected to the Mareen DuVall line (CL-402).

Susianne Hollis conjectures that Hannah had a brother named Lewis and that they lived at a place called Sugar Mountain in Maryland from some Marland deeds (C-2235)
DAR records state that Hannah is the daughter of Benjamin Duvall, a Revolutionary War Soldier. However, the c1952 book entitled "Mareen Duvall of Middle Plationtion" by Harry Wright Newman supposedly lists her as one of the youngest daughter of Lewis Duvall and a Miss Welsh. In this 2nd care, she would have a brother named Lewis. In other words, this lineage needs to be careully reviewed.
Edward Willett:

Edward owned a plantation in Maryland, the same state where he was born. In the 1820 FREDERICK
CO MD, the following members were sorted in his family; "1m26-45; 1 f-5; 1f 16-26".
He did not agree with Maryland's slave laws and therefore, moved to Phillipsburg, PA and then to Knox and Belmont CO, OH. According to the "History and Biography, 20th Century History of Delaware Co., Ohio", Edward Willett Benton moved to Knox Co., OH after 1824 and then to Delaware Co., OH in 1829. This isn't quite right, as Edward is in the 1830 census for Belmont Co., OH with the following family members: "1 male age 5-10; 1 male age 10-15; 1 male age 40-50 and 1 female age 30-40. He is in the 1850 Census record in Scioto Twp., Delaware Co., Ohio, page 273: "BENTON, Edward W. age 66 b MD farmer, Matilda age 46 b. MD. Catherine age 20, Rebecca age 17, Mary Jane age 14, Erasmus age 12, Nancy age 7....all born in OH. He disappears from the 1860 census records onward (CL-488)
He, a few family members and descendants are buried at Newhouse Cemetery, Delaware, OH; Edw W. 1782-7/30/1868, Matilda 8/27/1868, Benj T 1824-8/25/1906, Mary K 1825-1/7/1901, J R 1855-5/13/1916, Eva 1860-1/21/1939 and Chas B 1/9/1863-1-23-1941.
A lot of this line is buried in Delaware Cemeteries.
